![]() ![]() I click on the chart, update and/or extend some data series, and everything looks fine, but when I click out of the chart to add more data points elsewhere in the spreadsheet, the changes I make disappear, reverting back to what they looked like when I first opened the file after updating to v4.1.4. But in v4.1.4, whenever I try to update my charts, they refuse to do so. Somethhing like gnuplot or one of the graphing packages from R might be a better tool.I had been using v3.4.1 for the longest time, but decided to finally upgrade because it's been giving me a lot of issues lately with crashing as well as excessive slowdown with prolonged sessions. I'll send you a PM with an email address.īTW, spreadsheet graphics are not very good and a real graphing program might be a better choice. ![]() How confidential is the data? If it is not really at secret level, I could take a look at it later in the daY. An X-Y plot should be okay, at least if looked okay with my sample data What kind of plot are you creating? A line chart probably won't work and likely is not suitable for the data. It appears to me that the consolidation feature is for merging data from multiple spreadsheets into one I can't see how this would help me. I so far haven't found any explanation for this phenomenon. If I could understand how Calc is doing this, it might be acceptable as is. Not sure what Calc is doing to the rest of the data, if it is averaging or taking peaks, or what. If I stretch the chart out very far, it appears there are only about 10% of the actual data points. However, it looks like I didn't get all the data points to display on the chart. Tdidymas wrote:You're both right, I eliminated the date column, so I had only the time as x axis, and it created the chart ok. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time. If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add to the start of the title. ![]() You haven't given us enough information for anyone to help you with consolidation if you don't know how to do that yourself. Since you're having trouble, why don't you consolidate your data before creating the chart? I realize this is more work for you, but since you can't create the chart at present, perhaps this approach isn't unreasonable. So Calc will have to suppress some of your data anyway. You can't see 32000 points of data in a chart. I would wonder if it makes sense to put that much data in a chart. Perhaps that can help you as it has for others. In such situations it can be helpful to start with a new ODS-format file and copy/paste the data across to make cleaner data internally. Spreadsheets which have been saved by Excel are often very bad offenders. Is this a fairly clean spreadsheet, or has it had hundreds of edits? Some edits add a lof of complexity that you can't see and which you can normally ignore until trouble happens. I have no idea why you are having trouble with 31710 rows of data. It took Calc a few seconds to do that, but less than 10. I don't recall reading anything about chart limits so I created a spreadsheet with 4 columns and 32000 rows, then used Insert → Chart. I've read about a few limits: 65335 characters in a cell, 1024 columns in a sheet, 256 sheets in a spreadsheet file, 1048576 rows in a sheet (for your release 4.1.2). You know as much about the internals of Calc as I do, which is essentially nothing. Tdidymas wrote:What are the data limits of Calc?First, note that this is not a forum for Open Office developers.
